Missing you mark if you read this!

I've been reading some great debating material today that I am sure will get your debating juices flowing! I will save it for your wise words upon your return!

P.S I thought you might like my avatar!

Thanks for your post. I would just like to see Mark.uk return rather than be banned permanently.

Thanks, I am sure Mark.uk would appreciate that sentiment.

    Unremarkable

I’m not familiar with Penelope but you do high light a very significant point. I would like to pm Mark but I can’t while he is banned. It feels very harsh. Perhaps a system of warnings would help people know where they stand. I am sure moderators have been through all this before.

Lets hope he is back soon.

    Best wishes to all,
    Regards,

    Question So what

So what is the policy here on people who get unwell ( as we do ) , and go off on one or two occasions ..

.. personaly I am prepared to give people quite a great deal of le-way on these matters .. I have even had some pm's from people who I understand are having an episode and are not in a good way .. maybe I should have reported some of them .. but the next day at least half of them have sent apologys , and/or explainsions .. to which I have replyed "no problem"

.. cos I understand that I can also behave like this when I get out of hand .. and not realise til after the damage is done ...

.. some dont turn up again ... or for weeks after .. that is part of the nature of what we are ...

.. I suppose it is drawing lines ... forgiveable / forgivable with time / unforgivable ....

.. I have people on my friends list who are marked as banned ... they are still on my list .. some I still dont understand why they were banned ...

    .. I suppose that is life ..

MarkUK is a rational human being with not only passion but compassion for what he believes. Change doesn't happen by sitting idly by.....it takes energy, enthusiasm and real drive. But by the same token, it is sometimes best to be 'wise' and play the porns accordingly. Push but not too much, make your point and don't rise to baited answers! The real skill in debating is not to give your opponents the right to attack or call in the rules!

I hope that everyone, not only Mark realises we all have a contribution to make, and anyone that doesn't see that is blind to what really matters.

I look forward to Mark returning and the pursuance of 'real' debate.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak without censorship and/or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech".

The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression". Furthermore freedom of speech is recognized in European, inter-American and African regional human rights law.
