Hi all,
Hope it's ok to post this here, but my day job is working on a project that is setting up peer support groups for young people who hear, see or sense things that others don't.
I usually use this site to help offload my own experiences/struggles (having dealt with voices/paranoia/visions/trauma myself). However, as I noticed that the forum has a bit for parents/relatives/carers etc I thought this might be of use.
We're running the workshop at Amnesty International on Monday 22nd March from 10 - 2.30pm (including a bit of lunch). Amnesty International's Human Rights Action Centre is not too far from Old Street in London in case you're wondering.
The aim of the day is for parents of young people who are dealing with voices/visions/other unusual sensory perceptions to come together, find out more about the experience (from 2 people who have gone through it themselves), learn coping strategies, hear positive stories of recovery and find out what support is out there.
The name of the project is Voice Collective and it's based at Mind in Camden. We have a website and you can download the booking form/flyer from there www.voicecollective.co.uk/news/news_main.html
We're setting up peer support groups for young people (aged 12-18) in London, but we're happy for parents to come to the session from wherever (as long as there are places left). If you'd like to come, give us an email at my work address info at voicecollective . co . uk
Hope this is helpful to someone.
